New procedure for issuing organic certificates

December 19, 2022

New rules for organic certificates from 1 January 2023!

From 1 January 2023, organic certificates will be issued and made publicly available only on the common European Commission website TRACES. The transition period to the new system will be over and from the new year certificates will only be issued on the EC website TRACES.

The new Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council on organic production and labelling of organic products establishes a completely new framework for the issuing, maintenance and publication of certificates for organic operators:

  1. It is uniform across all EU countries on the EC's TRACES NT website, where the certificate is easily accessible in all official EU languages and to all interested parties,
  2. One certificate is issued per operator for production and processing activities,
  3. The certificate's authenticity and validity can be easily verified, reducing the risk of forgery and making it more secure for business

With all this, the search for certificates will be different.

STC is also adapting its database to the new system, so from 1 January 2023, certificates will be issued and available only through the TRACES certificate maintenance system.

Organic certificates issued in 2022 can be found on the STC website (click on the yellow "2022 certificates" button to view them)

The system for maintaining TRACES certificates is still being developed and updated. We ask you to be understanding and tolerant towards the system maintainers.
