Import/ export

Companies certified based on equivalence, requirements of the “Production standards and control measures” Commission Regulation (EC) 2018/848 and planning to engage in export or engaged in export to the EU must comply with the requirements set by the EU for product import to the EU, respectively with regard to laboratory tests of products and requesting and TRACES approval of the certificate of inspection (COI). 

Companies certified according to the STC Standard for ensuring British biological requirements “Production standards GB” Reg. 2007/834, 1235/2008 requirements and those who plan to engage in or engage in export to Great Britain (GB) must comply with the requirements set by GB for the import of products into the country, respectively for conducting laboratory examinations of the products and requesting and issuing the certificate of inspection (GB COI). Organic farming requirements in Great Britain are equivalent to EC REG. 834/2007 and Reg. 889/2008.

For companies certified according to the equivalence standard Standard "Production standards and control measures" Reg. 843/2007 and reg. 889/2008 when exporting organic products, taking measures in accordance with EU requirements and the requirements of the control scheme of certification authorities. 

Application about performing laboratory tests

"Laboratory tests of products to establish pesticide residues are required based on the performed risk analysis. The operator submits an application to the control authority for it to carry out sampling and perform production batch testing. Decision on the conformity of the batch of products. "

An application for supervision of movement of a batch of products (physical supervision of the batch)

The operator submits an application for physical supervision of movement of a batch of products. The control authority evaluates the documents (origin of products, product certificates from entrepreneurs, assessment of possible irregularities and sanctions, laboratory results etc.) and performs physical supervision of the batch of products.

Application for approval of the certificate of inspection (COI)

COI application to be submitted per transport unit, that is, a car, a train of wagons (if they are an inseparable train), a ship, etc. The operator must be registered in the TRACES NT system, registration can be done after Schemes described HERE.

The operator submits an application to the control authority to approve the COI certificate for TRACES. Appropriate documents certifying the origin, traceability and compliance with BL requirements of the product must be attached to the application.

The operator enters information about the product to be exported  https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/tracesnt/login and submits a request to the control authority by filling out an application and sending it to e-mail: coi@stc.lv 

COI for issuance of GB the operator follows the guidelines set Department for Environment Food&Rural Affairs Guidance: Importing organic products from third countries into Great Britain at the end of the transition period  and the answers given FAQS: Importing organic produce into Great Britain.

The operator fills in the COI GB form for the exported product and sends it to e-mail: coi@stc.lv

Approval of the certificate of inspection (COI)

The control body makes the decision about approval of COI within 3 work days after receiving and evaluating all documents, and requests additional information if necessary. Further actions with COI according to Article 13 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1235/2008.
