Cargo securing structures for goods vehicles and their trailers

The verification of the requirements for the vehicle structure and the attachment points for the vehicle and swap body couplings of goods transport units are specified in EN 12640; EN12641; EN12642 and EN 283.

Applicable to persons involved in loading/unloading and securing of vehicle loads, freight carriers, shippers, technical inspectors, market surveillance authorities.

How to get a certificate?

1. Submitting an application

The application shall be submitted by the manufacturer (for new vehicles) or by the user (for used vehicles) for the assessment of the conformity of the load securing structures of goods vehicles and their trailers.

2. Technical Service

(Accredited Notified Body) receives the terms of reference for testing and auditing of the production site. The Technical Service shall inform the manufacturer/user of the test methods, the full cost of the testing and conformity assessment process (in case of positive test results), deadlines, labelling.

3. Evaluation of results

After receiving the test results from the laboratory and evaluating them, in case of a positive result, the certification body shall issue a Certificate of Conformity.

4. Periodic monitoring

During the lifetime of the certificate (for new vehicles).
