History

Since 1911, in the Priekuli region of Cesis, in Vidzeme, the business has been carried out by the present limited liability company "Sertifikācijas un testēšanas centrs" (STC). It was here that the Baltic Machine Testing Station (Baltic MIS) started its work in 1911, with more than ten PhDs and PhD candidates. The station was founded by agronomist Vilums Skubiņš.
At the beginning of 2019, STC underwent significant changes, as a result of which it became a limited liability company from a state capital company, continuing to perform the functions delegated by the state in the field of assessment of individually manufactured and rebuilt tractors and their trailers, improving the existing services in the field of organic certification, conformity assessment and testing of machinery, agricultural and forestry forestry machinery, testing of plant protection product application equipment, training, as well as introducing a full range of new services and expanding the geographical area of service provision.

Strategy

To carry out objective, reliable and professional third party conformity assessment activities, in accordance with the regulatory enactments of the European Union and Latvia, to mitigate risks that may endanger human health, safety, the environment or other public interests, in accordance with the competence confirmed in the accreditation.

Policy Statement of the Conformity Assessment Unit

The Conformity Assessment Department is a department of the limited liability company "Certification and Testing Centre" with an established infrastructure, adequate resources and the aim to provide quality conformity assessment services to any interested party in order to assess the added value of the product created.

STC Laboratory Policy Statement

The STC laboratory is an independent department of SIA "Sertifikācijas un testēšanas centrs", which is accredited by the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau in accordance with the requirements of LVS EN ISO/IEC 17025 and LVS EN ISO/IEC 17020 standards.
