Verification process

1.WHAT IS A PLAYGROUND

It is a playground equipped with play or other activity equipment and equipment, the support structure of which remains stationary during the activity and which is designed for climbing, jumping, swinging, sliding, spinning, crawling, creeping, any combination of these activities or activities for the preservation or improvement of one's physical or intellectual abilities and has more than four play or other activity equipment installed in it.

3. TYPES AND FREQUENCY OF INSPECTIONS

Routine visual inspection, which shall be carried out in accordance with the site's workload, specific characteristics and potential risks, and shall examine the general condition of the equipment, its components and the coating of the site and identify defects and obvious hazards caused by damage to property, conditions of use or weather conditions.

Operational testwhich is carried out at least four times a year and examines in detail defects, equipment performance, various types of wear, deterioration and stability due to excessive movements.

Annual main inspectionwhich is carried out at least once a year and determines the overall safety level of the installation and the site (by determining the overall safety level of the equipment, the foundations and the coating), checks the functionality and stability of the installation and carries out a risk assessment.

Post-installation checkwhich is carried out before the public play and recreation ground is put into operation or, if it is not to be put into operation, before it is opened for public use. A post-construction inspection shall also be carried out where any of the play or other activity facilities are replaced, substantially altering or developing the public play and recreation ground so as to bring it up to the requirements for a play area. Prior to the post-installation inspection, the operator of the public play and recreation ground shall ensure that the ground or the facility concerned is not accessible for use.

4. WHO IS THE VERIFIER

The post-installation inspection of public playgrounds and recreation grounds and the play or other activity equipment installed thereon shall be carried out by an independent inspector who is not the owner, manufacturer, importer, distributor or otherwise involved in the design, development, manufacture, supply, installation, maintenance of the playground and the play or other activity equipment to be inspected. It shall be accredited by a national accreditation body.

(6) equipment to be used under competent supervision
